I am VP/Director of IT Architecture, DevOps; Director of Software. I am in a business unit of G5000. I think central IT is slow and takes too long. Jack, the devops guy reports under me. Sam, the solutions architect may or may not report under me but I take his advice seriously. I fear betting on the wrong technology – I like flexibility. I need scalability for my applications. I like predictable business models. I don’t care so much about the technologies peRecognition by business. Recognition by other lines of business. “On-time” delivery of projects is about what it gets me - Increased revenue and customer acquisition.
SOLUTIONS ARTCHITECT
I am a solutions application, enterpris, lead architect or CTO. I architect the overall application stack. I help build application that help meet the business requirements. I have a strong influence on Suzie or sometimes I am a primary buyer. I speak to Jack often to understand the implementation and operation challenges. Cares about new technologies and that he is considered a thought leader. Enterprise Support and SLAs are important for me. I like projects to deploy on time and application adoption is important. I am recognition by business goals and other lines of business within the company.
DEVOPS ENGINEER
I am part of a small team that has to be jack of all trades: Developer and also pushing the code. I may even have additional responsibilities such as development (DevOps). If part of a large organization, I report under the line of business, Development org or CMO. I like opensource but thinks he can build things myself. Could be already using Kong open-source. Likes “cool” technologies. Wants to get things done but also wants to associated with a brand. Developing a (micro) service that will be part of the application. Some full stack responsibilities. Some backend development.
